Pokémon GO Map Updates Releasing Over The Next Few Weeks!

It’s been over three years since the last few Pokémon GO Map Updates… Well, guess what? Niantic is hard at work and will be rolling out changes over the next few weeks.

Check out the developer’s announcement tweet!

Niantic stated, “Since [the last map update], both Pokémon GO and the world around us have changed.” These improvements to the in-game map plan to reflect that.

Over the next few weeks, the major changes you’ll see are: The map reflecting the surrounding environment more, and different Pokémon appearing in a wider variety of places.

Along with visual changes, the entire game’s Global map is getting a refresh. For example, you’ll see the removal of old roads, or even newly constructed buildings! For people who want accuracy and an immersive experience, this is perfect.

The Pokémon spawn changes will also bring a much-needed change—there will be an increase of Pokémon spawning in rural and rapidly expanding areas.

Densely populated areas, like cities, will also have their Pokémon spawns be spread out more evenly. This should result in a better playing experience, and encourage walking around!

Looking forward to these changes? You can read the official announcement on the Pokémon GO Blog. The game also has a Teddiursa Community Day happening next month!

Hopefully these changes also make it to Niantic’s other titles, like Pikmin Bloom and NBA All-World. It’s heartening to see the developers continuously improve on the game experience, and add requested updates.
