For those worried their phones can’t play The Witcher: Monster Slayer, the developers are adding in non-ARCore device support.
The developers, Spokko Games, took to Twitter to address concerns and affirm fans there will be a solution for the ARCore requirement.
Whilst there haven’t been any specifics yet, we can probably look towards other geolocation Augmented Reality games to see how they’ll implement support.
For example, other similar AR games such as Pokémon GO and Harry Potter: Wizards Unite.
The games allow players to use a limited version of the AR feature or turn off the camera all together.
This is great news. This means more people will be able to play the game! And if they allow players to turn of AR, this could even mean better battery life too.
The Witcher: Monster Slayer is launching later this month on the 21st. It is releasing for both iOS and Android.
It is currently unknown if this update to support non-ARCore devices will be before or after launch, but they’ll be posting more news soon.
