This new WebAR Service AnyShape.io lets you upload any 3D model, and then convert it to a web-based augmented reality experience!
The project was posted on reddit by user Juchas. You can check out the original reddit post here.
AnyShape.io is a free and can be used on both Android or iOS devices. It also supports a long list of model formats. Here is a list of supported models:
3DS + Textures OBJ + MTL FTX GLB DAE + Texures ZAE
The developer, Juchas, believes the app is useful in a few different scenarios. For example if you were a “small firm designing chairs”, AnyShape.io would give you a good idea on how it’d look in the real world before production.
To get started using the WebAR Service AnyShape.io users will need to sign-up free using either your email address or Google account. There are also sample models if you just want to check out the app!
There is a pricing tab option on the AnyShape.io website. This is if you’re a business wanting more flexibility and features with the app. Such as analytics and removing watermarks.
AnyShape.io could be really useful for app and game development. It could be a fast way to prototype and see how models would look in action!
